Alumni Questions the Poly/NYU Merger
The merger between Poly and NYU is being held up by Polytechnic alumni and faculty that feel the university is could lose its identity and that overall structure of the deal is unfavorable. I hope that this is not a situation of "paralysis by analysis". NYU and Poly have been moving toward this deal for some years and in the end it can benefit both institutions. NYU will get a premier engineering school to add to its stable programs and enhance its offering to students. Poly will be a part of a major brand, which will increase enrollment and put itself in better overall finanacial situation. This will allow both to expand into hotspots in the New York, downtown Brooklyn and the village in lower Manhattan. I am in favor of the merger, I think the pros out weigh the cons, but as with any deal there should be a line you should not cross. For Poly, is this deal about financial stability and tapping the NYU resources or is this about bringing more recognition to Polytechnic so in turn it can add more value to the education one receives at its university. Whatever the case, do not hold this deal up for fear of change because in the end I believe this could be a win-win.

HSI
Verizon has recently changed the name of its DSL (digital subcriber lines) to HSI - High Speed Internet. the reason for the name change, the cable company's promotions that DSL is "slow". Do you agree that Verizon should have changed the products name or should they have tried to preserve the brand?

Welcome to the TIM/MOT blogspot
My fellow TIM/MOT graduates welcome to your blogspot. We have been through alot in the past year and a half and have finally achieved a momentous goal in our educational careers. At our graduation party, I stated that one of the greatest benefits we earned during our time at Poly was the relationships built with one another. We learned about all kinds of networks; social, B2B, wireless but the network we created amongst each other is the most valuable. I want us to keep in touch, I would like us to keep the thought provoking and stimulating class discussions going. So this is my attempt to keep the line of communication going. Lets use this blogspot as a way to continue our relationships. So here's to our continued discussions.
