My fellow TIM/MOT graduates welcome to your blogspot. We have been through alot in the past year and a half and have finally achieved a momentous goal in our educational careers. At our graduation party, I stated that one of the greatest benefits we earned during our time at Poly was the relationships built with one another. We learned about all kinds of networks; social, B2B, wireless but the network we created amongst each other is the most valuable. I want us to keep in touch, I would like us to keep the thought provoking and stimulating class discussions going. So this is my attempt to keep the line of communication going. Lets use this blogspot as a way to continue our relationships. So here's to our continued discussions.

Verizon has recently changed the name of its DSL (digital subcriber lines) to HSI - High Speed Internet. the reason for the name change, the cable company's promotions that DSL is "slow". Do you agree that Verizon should have changed the products name or should they have tried to preserve the brand?
Hi Basheer,
I'm sure that is a desision of marketing executives to maintain the product on the market. Customers like to hear that they have a valuable product and some are (I percieve) disapointed with the speed of basic "home" DSL. Once again, changing the name is a well planned marketing strategy for Verizon.

I found it interesting that they would change the name in light of competitors claims of being slower than cable. DSL or HSI, is still a major revenue generating product for Verizon and revenues are down a bit. Changing the name maybe Verizon trying to buy time until FiOS really takes off.
